Logger given another year for county harvest

IRON MOUNTAIN — A logger will be given an extra year by Dickinson County to conduct a select timber cutting on 21 county acres near Lake Antoine.

Minerick Logging Inc. of Sagola was awarded a bid of $6,192 in March 2017, but has been unable to get to the project. In exchange for the extension, Minerick will add an additional $2 per cord harvested.

The new deadline, as approved by the county board, is March 31, 2019. No other loggers submitted proposals at the initial bidding. It is not a large amount of timber, commissioners noted.

VanOss Forestry Services of Crystal Falls is the consulting forester.
