Norway kindergarten, early kindergarten registration planned
NORWAY — Registration for kindergarten and early kindergarten in the Norway-Vulcan School District will be held during the week of March 12-16, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the elementary office. There will be an evening registration on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Classes for kindergarten and early kindergarten are full-day five days a week. There is no charge. Transportation is provided to and from school.
Children must be five years of age before Sept. 1, for both kindergarten and early kindergarten.
According to Michigan law, if a child is not five years of age on Sept. 1, but will be five years of age not later than Dec. 1, the parent or legal guardian of that child may enroll the child in kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year if the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver.
All children will be schedule for the kindergarten screening (testing). A date and time will be set for the screening during registration.
Parents must have their child’s immunization record and a certified birth certificate at the time of registration. If you do not have a certified birth certificate, you may obtain one at the county courthouse.
Michigan requires that all children must have a completed or be nearing completion of their immunizations prior to entering school.
Children are also required to have their vision and hearing tested. The Dickinson-Iron Health Department does free screenings for vision and hearing. There will be a sign-up at the time of registration.
