Woman cuts herself at Dickinson courthouse

IRON MOUNTAIN — A woman is in protective custody after cutting herself with a box cutter in the Dickinson County Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

The woman had been in the circuit courtroom and stepped outside into a hallway to talk with her attorney when she cut her wrist and neck with a box cutter, officials said.

The sheriff’s office courthouse security officer was nearby and helped stop the bleeding before emergency responders arrived, officials said.

She was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officials didn’t have information this morning on the extent of her injuries.

No one else was hurt in the incident, officials said.
