Meth items investigated in Kingsford

KINGSFORD — Kingsford Public Safety officers discovered a methamphetamine dumpsite Friday morning at Menominee Park, and believe they have evidence that will assist them in determining a suspect, according to a news release.

A resident called KPS about 9:30 a.m. after finding items she believed to be used in the manufacture of meth. Officers closed the park to visitors and contacted the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team to assist in the disposal of the materials.

This is the second meth dumpsite found in Kingsford this spring — one was reported March 10 near the Cowboy Lake parking lot and the Menominee River. Four people face criminal charges in Dickinson County Circuit Court for that incident.

Officers remind residents who find suspicious items to not touch them and immediately contact 911 or a local police department.
