CF woman accepts plea deal in embezzlement case

LAURA SARTORI

CRYSTAL FALLS — A Crystal Falls woman accused of embezzling from Lake Shore Systems/Oldenburg Group will be sentenced July 9 after taking a plea deal Monday on a reduced charge.

Laura Lee Sartori, 54, pleaded no contest in Iron County Trial Court to embezzlement by an agent or trustee-between $1,000 and $20,000, a five-year felony. Pursuant to the agreement, Iron County Prosecutor Melissa Powell dismissed the original, more serious charge of embezzlement-between $50,000 and $100,000, a 15-year felony.

Sartori will remain free on bond until sentencing.

Sartori took money from Lake Shore Systems/Oldenburg Group in Iron River between October 2013 and October 2016 while employed in human resources.

She would use different means to get the funds, such as improperly using the company credit card and submitting incorrect reimbursement requests, according to a portion of the police report read in court.
