Waucedah defendant waives hearing

Todd Johnson

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Waucedah Township man accused of assault and drug charges will be arraigned June 18 in Dickinson County Circuit Court after waiving his district court preliminary examination this week.

Todd Stephen Johnson, 56, faces assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, a 10-year felony, and delivery or manufacture of marijuana-5 to 45 kilograms or 20 to 200 plants, a seven-year felony.

Johnson’s case had been on hold for several months while he completed competency and criminal responsibility evaluations.

He reportedly threw a woman to the floor and choked her during a Jan. 22 argument in Waucedah Township, according to the criminal complaint.

When Dickinson County deputies arrived, they found evidence of a marijuana grow, the complaint states.
