Domestic incident leads to stabbing in Vulcan

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Vulcan man was treated for stab wounds Friday after an altercation with his juvenile son and then charged in an earlier domestic assault on his wife, Michigan State Police at the Iron Mountain post said.

No names have been released in the incident, as the man arrested for domestic violence has yet to be arraigned in court. The other individual is a 15-year-old boy who had an initial hearing Saturday morning, Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richards said, adding she authorized a juvenile petition for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Troopers were sent to the stabbing just before 2 p.m. Friday but the man had fled from the site. A K-9 unit searching the area found the man hiding under the stairs of the Norway Township Hall, troopers said.

The man was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment, then to the Dickinson County Jail on a domestic assault charge.

The juvenile was transported to the Sault Tribe Youth Facility in St. Ignace.

Investigation revealed the man left his residence for a few hours after the incident involving his wife and, after returning, got into an altercation with his son over a set of keys, troopers said.
