IRON MOUNTAIN — Authorities have released further details in the three-vehicle U.S. 2 crash Saturday that killed two men.

The accident occurred just before 6 p.m. in front of the BP gas station in Vulcan, where an eastbound Chevrolet Impala had stopped to turn left into the station when it was rear-ended by a Ford pickup truck driven by Carl P. McBroom, troopers said. The pickup truck, after hitting the Impala, went into the westbound lane and collided head-on with a GMC Acadia driven by Donald J. LeBombard, which overturned.

McBroom, 34, of Waucedah, was pronounced dead at the crash site. LeBombard, 66, of Vulcan, was dead on arrival at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Sheryl A. LeBombard, 61, a passenger in the Acadia, was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., in stable condition.

The driver of the Impala, 33-year-old Troy A. Turini, and his 3-year-old daughter reported no injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. There was a small fire in the Acadia after the collision.

Assisting were the Michigan State Police crash reconstruction unit, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Norway Police Department, Integrity Care EMS, North Alert Ambulance and the Norway Area Fire Department.
