Car seat safety checks offered

Florence, Wis. — You can have your child’s car seat checked by a certified technician free of charge under a Florence County program.

Many car seats are not used correctly in the car. Properly installed seats make your child safer in the car.

The Florence County Health Department conducts free personal car seat checks in collaboration with the sheriff’s office at the Florence County Courthouse.

If you live outside the town of Florence, you may be able to have your child’s car seat checked for proper installation at one of the monthly immunization clinics scheduled in Aurora at NWTC or Tipler Town Hall.

To have your car seat checked by a Certified Car Seat Technician, please call Ann Price for your appointment at 715-528-3427.

Why are car seats important? Since the time when many of us were children, research has been done to determine ways to prevent injuries and death from motor vehicle crashes. Advancements have been made not only with motor vehicles, but with car safety seats.

Also, there has been an enormous increase in the number of vehicles on the roadways. In addition, minimum/maximum speeds have also increased.
