Celebrate Community! event planned

Menominee — The M&M Area Community Foundation is hosting Celebrate Community! Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Menominee Marina.

This is a day to highlight and celebrate organizations and programs important to the community. The Foundation is working with nonprofits, schools, and churches to showcase their efforts. Community members are invited to attend to learn more about local programs and projects and their impacts across our communities.

In addition to the nearly 30 organizations in attendance, the day will include free horse-drawn carriage rides, Christmas tree sales, food vendors, Spies Library activities, and live music by Chosen Generation. Santa will also make a special appearance with complimentary professional photos from 12:30 to 1:30 p,m.

Event attendees, 18 or older, may register for over $2,800 in free door prizes. To be eligible to win, people must visit booths to learn about various organizations. Prizes include a children’s bike donated by Cycle Path, an $875 Mall of America gift package donated by Bay Cities MultiMedia, $600 worth of gift certificates donated by Papa Murphy’s Pizza, a gift package donated by the Greater Marinette Menominee YMCA, $200 in Menominee Downtown Business Association gift certificates donated by BAMC/Aurora, a $75 gift certificate donated by Goodwill, a gift basket donated by NEW UP Dental, a gift basket donated by CosmoProf, and two tickets to a Leon Williams Sings Noel concert donated by River Cities Concert Association.

“We are pleased with the interest shown by local nonprofits in attending this event. This first-ever day of celebrating all that makes our communities unique looks to be a resounding success,” said Paula Gruszynski, MMACF executive director. “The Community Foundation was honored to be approached by the Menominee Downtown Business Association to organize and host this new activity.”

The first 50 families to bring in an old string of less efficient holiday lights to the M&M Area Community Foundation’s Clean Energy booth, will receive a free set of LED lights. The holiday light exchange is funded by the C.S. Mott Clean Energy grant received by the MMACF.

Nonprofits, schools, and churches interested in having a table at Celebrate Community! Day should contact Paula Gruszynski at 906-864-3599.
