McBroom takes oath in Senate

LANSING — State Sen. Ed McBroom was formally sworn in as senator of the 38th District on Wednesday during a ceremony at the state Capitol. Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Stephen J. Markman administered the oath of office.

McBroom was joined in the Senate chamber by his wife Sarah; children Helen, Eddie, Etta, Kenny Jack, and Edee; sister-in-law Susan McBroom and her children Melody, Carl, Britta, Royal, Odell, Orianna, Magnus, and Selah; brother Frank and his wife Chrissy; brother-in-law Andy Larsen, his wife Beth, and their son Christian; friends Kern Slucter and Sam and Annette Johnson; and Upper Peninsula judges Christopher Ninomiya and Perry Lund.

“I am honored to serve the Upper Peninsula in the state Senate, and am humbled by the trust U.P. residents have placed in me to represent them at the Capitol,” said McBroom, R-Vulcan. “I am excited to get to work and to seize the opportunities and tackle the challenges that lay ahead as we strive to improve the lives of U.P. families. I look forward to what we will accomplish together over the next four years.”
