Woman injured in Iron County rollover crash

IRON COUNTY — A 27-year-old Amasa woman was injured Wednesday after being ejected from her vehicle in a crash in Iron County.

The accident happened about 3:55 p.m on U.S. 2 near Fire Tower Road in Crystal Falls Township, according to the Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Post.

The woman was eastbound on U.S. 2 when she crossed the center line and nearly struck a westbound vehicle head-on, then lost control after over-correcting and left the road, rolling several times.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Iron River, but her injuries were not considered life threatening, according to MSP.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

Assisting were Iron County Sheriff’s Department and Aspirus Ambulance.
