Community Easter dinners on calendar

Two churches in the region will host community dinners for Easter on Sunday, April 21.

Grace United Methodist Church of Norway will serve from 5 to 6 p.m. in the church hall.

The menu features roast pork loin, potatoes, vegetables, dessert and beverages. Reservations are appreciated.

Free meals also can be delivered in the Norway-Vulcan area. Call the church office at 906-563-8917 before Thursday if a meal needs to be delivered or prepared for takeout.

Those who get the answering machine should leave a message but call before the Thursday deadline, as messages after that day may not be received.

There is no cost for dinner. A donation basket will be available for those who want to contribute.

“The meals program has been growing since its beginning as a new community outreach ministry,” meal coordinator Chris Spence said. “All meals are funded through donations.”

The church is at 130 Odill Drive, behind the Jake Menghini Museum, and is known as Crossroads, a facility shared by Grace United Methodist and Bethany Lutheran churches.

In Iron River, St. Agnes Catholic Church plans to offer an Easter buffet from 1 to 3 p.m. April 21 in the church hall.

Those wanting a delivered meal or to be put on the takeout list should call the church office at 906-265-4557 or 906-265-2235 by 4 p.m. Thursday. Deliveries will begin at 11:30 a.m. April 21 and takeouts can be picked up at noon.

Those who miss the Thursday deadline for delivery still can receive a takeout dinner or come to the church.

There is no charge for the meal. All are welcome to attend.

The event is hosted by volunteers from St. Cecilia and St. Agnes Catholic Parishes.
