Ole Lundin
IRON MOUNTAIN – Ole G. Lundin, 89, of Iron Mountain, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Stambaugh, son of the late Ole and Theckla (Westerlund) Lundin. He graduated from Stambaugh High School in 1940 and later from Michigan State University with a master’s degree in education administration.
He was a veteran of World War II and served as school administrator with the Department of Defense following the war. While in that position, he traveled extensively around the world to places including Spain, Germany, Newfoundland, and Iceland. Ole married Carol (Premo) Wickman in September 1991. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, and golfing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ole is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Ole Lundin of Durham, N.C., Peter (Carol) Lundin of Wausau, Wis., and Timothy (Rosa) Lundin of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two stepchildren, David Sells of Flint, Mich., and Deborah Weiszmann of Loveland, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reynardine (Kenyon); two daughters, Mary Kudo and Theckla Mulrooney; and siblings, Per Lundin, Martha Ward, Ellsworth Lundin, Olive Richardson, Oliver Lundin, Inez Vezzetti, Edward Lundin, Pearl Comstock, Frank Lundin, Paul Lundin, and Alice Gustafson.
Memorial graveside services will be held on June 28, at the Stambaugh Cemetery. The time will be announced closer to the date by the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
