CRYSTAL FALLS — Beverly Ann (Cain) Bates, 77, of Crystal Falls, died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 2016, in Green Bay, Wis.
She was born Sept. 22, 1939, to Herbert and Dora (Jensen) Cain. Bev graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1957. She married Fred (Buckshot) Bates on Dec. 30, 1961.
Bev was an active member of Mansfield Township. She served as township clerk, a 4-H leader, Happy Hollow Homemakers, Mansfield Memories Committee, and Mansfield Pioneer Church. She loved writing and was the co-editor of the Mansfield Independent and a member of the Northwoods Writers group.
She enjoyed singing, playing cards, all animals and hosting dinner parties. She was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Faith Fellowship Bible Church, Sagola Senior Center, and the Iron County Museum. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her sister trips.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years; three daughters and their families; Lana (Bert) and Leah Starr of Cardwell, Mont.; Wendy Bates Skovera and Samantha (Jordan) Messersmith and Dalton of Green Bay, Wis.; Penny (Tony) Amanda, Rachel and stepsons Nathaniel (Teresa) Lauren and Talon Kudwa, Elijah (Krystal) and Eila, Eiven and Eileen Kudwa, all of Crystal Falls.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Mansfield Township Hall.
Visitation at 10 a.m., with service at 11 a.m., with a luncheon/fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter in Iron River.
