IRON MOUNTAIN — Lawrence “Dale” Lindberg, 74, of Iron Mountain, lost his long battle with heart disease on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

He was born on April 19, 1942, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Harry A. Lindberg and Harriet Marion (Chandler) Luciani. He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17, receiving an honorable discharge for his years of service to his country. Upon returning home he worked as a self-employed furnace man, and then as an over-the-road trucker for many years.

He married Cherry Lynn Kampo on April 10, 2003, at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain, and together they spent nearly 14 wonderful years together. Dale was a faithful member of the First Covenant Church, and a nearly 30-year member of the Singing Strings.

He enjoyed family and friends, cooking, making sausage, hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and singing.

Dale was a genuine, good-hearted and compassionate man. Everyone who knew him loved his contagious laugh and his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his sweet memories, his wife, Cherry Lindberg of Iron Mountain; his son, Walter Lindberg and his wife, Lorna, and their children, Kayla and Kersten (Michael); his daughter, Loni Musolf (Lindberg) and husband William; his daughter, Candice Ahrens (Lindberg) and husband, David and their children Savanna and Braden; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Piechowiak.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral Service will follow on Tuesday at noon at the funeral home. Rev. Peter Erickson will officiate.
