Joyce Ducharme

NIAGARA, Wis. — Joyce Marie Ducharme left her earthly life on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara surrounded by her loving daughters.

Joyce was born on June 25, 1930, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Edward Hart and Susan (Quick) Hart Michaud. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1949.

Joyce married Roger Ducharme on March 8, 1952. The love of her life passed away on March 8, 1970, leaving her to continue to raise their four daughters, Pam, Trudy, Sally and Sheila.

Those closest to Joyce knew that family was her reason for living. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by the love and laughter of her children and grandchildren. She was also a devout Catholic and active member of Sacred Heart Church in Aurora, Wis., until its closing, at which point, she became a member of American Martyrs Church in Kingsford.

One of her favorite aspects of life at Maryhill Manor was reciting the daily rosary and attending religious services.

Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Pam (Mike) Novara of Kingsford, Trudy (Tom) Rochon of Spread Eagle, Wis., Sally (Eugene) Neuens of Aurora, and Sheila (Bob) Nault of Kingsford; two brothers, Jim (Gail) Hart of Bark River and David Hart of Bark River; a very special brother-in-law, Douglas Carlson of Kingsford; three sisters-in-law, Beth Hart of Arizona, Lois Ducharme of Arkansas, and Geraldine Warmuth of Idaho. She also has 14 loving grandchildren: John (Holly Mitchell) Novara, Torrie (Tom) Luft, Todd (Loni) Rochon, Jessa Neuens, Gina (Roger) Reed, Dan (Kris) Neuens, Tracy (Mike) Dockum, Brian (Michelle) Neuens, Tricia (Pete) Dewar, Jennifer (Jeff) Schettler, Suzanne (Josh) McMahon, Megan (Lindsey Thowless) Neuens, Roger (Anna Reardon) Nault, and Robert (Dayna) Nault; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Carlson of Kingsford and Barbara Carollo of Iron Mountain; and her brother, Michael Hart.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church in Aurora, where her six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Fr. Joseph Gouin will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be made to the chapel at Maryhill Manor.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Maryhill Manor who always made sure their mom was well taken care of and loved. They also truly appreciate the residents who adored her.
