PEORIA, Ariz. — Carol L. Schomisch, 55, of Peoria, died on Thursday, June 22 at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, Ariz., after a courageous battle with leukemia. Carol was born, Oct. 7, 1961, daughter of Dan and the late Betty Schomisch.

Carol grew up in Kingsford and following her graduation from Kingsford High School in 1979 she attended Northern Michigan University for 2 years.

Carol moved away from the area in 1982 to Arizona where she had remained since. She worked for the State of Arizona in the Disability Determination Department where she advanced her way to clerical supervisor. Carol retired in June 2016 after 27 years of loyal and dedicated service. She loved to read, watch movies and spend time with her family and friends. Carol also had a love for pigs and collected a large variety of pig items over the years.

Carol is survived by her father, Dan Schomisch of Avon Park, Fla.; her sister, Valerie (Russ) Garrett of Iron Mountain; and her brother David, ‘also known as “Poopy” to Carol’ (Michelle) Schomisch of Lakeland, Fla. Nephews, Ryan Cousineau of Kingsford, Matt Cousineau also of Kingsford, and Michael (Angela) Cousineau of Iron Mountain; a niece, Brittany Brownlow of Lakeland, nephew Patrick Flannagan of Lakeland; great-niece, Addison Marie also of Lakeland; and many very close friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Schomisch in June 2016, and by one of her very dear friends, Allison Graham in November 2015.

Carol was very loved by her family and many friends and will be sadly missed.
