IRON MOUNTAIN — Sharon May Frievalt, of Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

She was born on May 2, 1934, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Roger “Cotton” Nyquist and Violet (Nelson) Nyquist. She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain, except for a brief time in Milwaukee in 1951.

Sharon married James “Jim” Frievalt, of Kingsford on Aug. 3, 1951, in Waukegan, Ill. Upon moving back to the area, Sharon raised their three children followed by being a bookkeeper first at Peninsula Oil in Iron Mountain, then at R&C Wholesale in Aurora, Wis.

Sharon loved crossword puzzles and excelled at finding the right words. She enjoyed reading, working out, and walking with her friends and husband.

Sharon and Jim traveled around the country when Jim drove truck, and they enjoyed some travel abroad. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was full of advice on healthy living and extolled it frequently with love and a good sense of humor. Her family listened more than they let on.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jim; her three children, Randy Frievalt of St. Charles, Ill., Vickie (Bill) Stephenson, of Iron Mountain and Kevin (Amy) Frievalt of Kingsford; and a special cousin, Ken Pengrazzi of Pine Creek; grandchildren, Shannon Caulfield, Joshua Frievalt, Jamie Jenshak, Melissa Bertolini, and Andrew Frievalt; and step-grandchildren, Cassie, Sabre and Nick; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Michael March will officiate.

A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home.
