KINGSFORD — David A. Giannunzio, 70, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., after a long and courageous battle with health issues.

He was born on April 8, 1947 in Iron Mountain, to the late Joseph F. and Bethel (Coleman-McNabb) Giannunzio. He attended school in Ironwood and Iron Mountain. After graduation David enlisted in the United States Army in 1964. He was a Ranger, a rifle sharpshooter, and received a medal in National Defense Service prior to his honorable discharge in 1966. Dave was a “jack of all trades,” and never afraid of hard work. He had many jobs and a number of businesses over the years including diesel mechanic, used car lot owner and auto body shop. Dave loved to talk with anyone, to cook and have big get-togethers, play cards, go on casino trips and numerous adventures.

Dave was a wonderful husband, father and grandpa, always thoughtful, kind, caring, and willing to lend a hand.

David is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his children, Lisa (Rudy) Vassar of Florence, Wis., Diane Lange (Jim Polkinghorne) of Kingsford, and Chuck Giannunzio of Tennessee; grandchildren, Dorianne (Matt) Brooks, Andrew Vassar, Savannah Vassar, and Stephanie Kucej; great-grandchildren, Maci Mae, Emmi Lyn, McKinley, and Owen; brothers, Ronald (Cheri) Giannunzio, Robert (Jan) Giannunzio, Joseph (Kathy) Giannunzio and Jerry (Paula) Giannunzio; brothers and sisters in-law, Frank (Anne) Mortl, Mike (Patty) Mortl, Carole (John) Erickson, James (Kris) Mortl, and Mark (Laura) Mortl; many nieces, nephews, and special foster children.
