NORWAY — Elizabeth A. Stanchina, 91, of Norway, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara, Wis.
Elizabeth was born on May 9, 1926 in Vulcan, the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Ball) Moraska.
She married Francis Stanchina on Feb. 23, 1952, at St. Barbara’s Church in Vulcan. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2011.
Elizabeth worked as a nurse’s aide for many years at Freemans and Pine Manor Nursing Homes. She enjoyed spending her summers at her camp in Waucedah Township.
Elizabeth’s hobbies were gardening, watching her deer, and attending the horse shows at the Dickinson County Fair Grounds. Later in life she looked forward to going on the casino bus tours with Judy’s Get Away Tours, and was especially appreciative of all the friendships she made along the way.
Her top priority was always family and she cherished spending time with them. She gave her heart to family and a beautiful memory lingers.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Glory (Tim) Augustine, Mary (Mike) Opolka and Tina (Al) Mott-Bjorkman; grandchildren, Jodi (Matt) Gibson, Angela (Paul) Vivio, Luke (Jenifer) Mott, Kristy Opolka and Michael Opolka; step-grandchildren, Candace (Jon) Rogers and Dustin Bjorkman; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Makayla Vivio, Tyler Gayan, Kody and Riley Hendricks, Jax Mott, Anika Rogers and Jon Rogers; sisters-in-law, Carol Moraska, Margaret Moraska and Francella Stanchina; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Nicole Skoglund; brothers Louis, Joseph, Paul and John Moraska; and sisters, Lucille Smokovitz and Veronica Gunville.
Per Elizabeth’s request, private family services will be held.
Interment will be at the Norway Township Cemetery.
