Frank R. Wayne
FOLEY, Ala. — Frank R. Wayne, 69, of Foley, passed away on Nov. 30, 2017. Frank was born in Iron Mountain to his parents, the late Frank and Geraldine (Kilgren) Wayne. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1966 and started his pipefitting apprenticeship with Local 728 of the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) Plumbers and Pipefitters that same year. He achieved the level of journeyman pipefitter and served as the business manager for Local 728. He retired from International Paper in Quinnesec in 2005.
Frank loved fishing and hunting, but he especially loved his family. He was married to the former Jane L. Kohl in 1971 and they have one son, David Wayne (Christina), and one daughter, Jessica Moore (Tom).
He leaves behind his beloved dog Gizzy, his wife, children, and four grandsons — Brendan Wayne, and Jack, Cameron and James Moore.
He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Robert Kohl (Becki) and James Kohl (Jean); one sister-in-law, Patricia Kohl; eight nieces and nephews; several close cousins; many dear friends; and his “brother from another mother,” Mike Zambon.
Frank was a generous man with a special place in his heart for military veterans and disadvantaged children. He enjoyed giving anonymous donations at Christmas time to charities that help these groups. Should friends desire during this Christmas season, the family suggests donations to a charity supporting his vision be made in Frank’s name.
It gives his family great comfort knowing he was unbelievably happy at the end of his life, living in paradise with his loving wife and faithful pup.
A memorial in Michigan is being planned for a later date.
