IRON MOUNTAIN — Gerald E. “Jerry” Wickman, 91, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, in Billings, Mont.

Jerry was born March 1, 1926, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Edward and Minnie (Dixon) Wickman. He graduated from Felch High School in 1944 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Jerry worked for the Ford Motor Company in Kingsford for several years following his graduation.

He married Carol J. Mattson on Nov. 22, 1952. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2001. Jerry was employed by Grede Foundry, where he worked in the shipping department for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988.

He married Teresa Pummill on July 29, 2006, in Iron Mountain. Jerry was a member of First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain and the Eastern Dickinson County Sportsmen’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing the streams, which he continued to do until age 89. Gardening was a joy for him, and you were guaranteed beautiful tomatoes, cukes and green onions if you stopped by. Jerry enjoyed socializing and telling stories and earned the nickname “Jolly” from his good natured personality. He also enjoyed traveling and most of all loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa; five daughters, Jeri Lynn (Paul) Busch of Appleton, Wis., Lori (David) Izzo of Aviano, Italy, Patti (Jerry) Kingsbury of Denver, Mary (Jim) Carlson of Iron Mountain and Shari Trepanier of Iron Mountain; four step-sons, Danny (Paula) Pummill of Virginia, William Pummill of Iron Mountain, Michael (Sharon) Pummill of Washington and Stephen (Joann) Pummill of Madison Heights; a step-daughter, Rebecca (Michael) Kobos of Billings; three brothers, Ray (Bev) Wickman of Livonia, Cecil (Doris) Wickman of Iron Mountain and Warren (Betty) Wickman of Felch; a sister, Helen Ann Mumma of Rolla, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Wickman; 30 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends including his good friend and fishing buddy, Doug Carlson.

In addition to his parents and his wife Carol, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold Wickman and Donald Wickman; and three sisters, Dorothy Freda, Jane Johnson and Ruth Hirn.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate. Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery.
