BERTRAM, Texas — Gordon Joseph LeGault of Bertram, passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2017 at age 91.

Gordon was born on Oct. 5, 1926, in Iron Mountain to Joseph and Grace (Dumas) LeGault. He attended Kingsford High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in Panama. He married Elizabeth “Liz” Marble on July 16, 1949, and together they raised four children, spending much of their time on the family farm in Dale, Wis. Gordon worked with the American Can paper mill and later as a truck driver traveling cross country. Gordon and Liz moved to Bertram in 1971, where they relished retirement and the warm Texas sunshine.

Gordon cherished time with family and friends, and he could liven up any room with his storytelling and witty sense of humor. He was a fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived life to the fullest and enjoyed people, laughter, food, music, games, woodworking, hunting, and travel.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Elizabeth “Liz” (Marble) LeGault of Bertram; parents, Joseph and Grace (Dumas) LeGault of Kingsford; sister, Annabelle (LeGault) Peterson of Scandinavia, Wis.; and granddaughter, Amber-Jo LeGault of Great Falls, Mont.

Gordon is survived by his four children, Joe and Barb LeGault of Berlin, Wis., Marilyn LeGault and David Owens of Georgetown, Texas, Margene Hilgart of Bertram, Sam and Judy LeGault of Smithwick, Texas; sister, Elaine Sundin of Mesa, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jensen of Neenah, Wis.; grandchildren, Jennifer and Colin Stanley, Samuel LeGault, Bryena LeGault, Jim Hilgart, Robin and Thomas Cargill, Briana Varns; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 in the Memorial Chapel of the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas, with a visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Committal services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
