MARQUETTE — Janice Carol (Dahlgren) Morin, 78, of Marquette, went to her final resting place surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 24, 2017, after a brief battle with cancer. Janice was born in Alpha on Dec. 31, 1938, to Fern (Anderson) and Stanley Dahlgren. The family later moved to North Lake (Ishpeming) where Janice lived with her mother, father and brother until she met her husband, Paul Joseph Morin. The couple wed in January 1958 and raised five children. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this January.

Janice loved playing the piano and listening to classical musicians. Bowling was a big part of her enjoyment and later on in life it was oil/acrylic painting. A summer camp on the Dead River Basin was a place of relaxation for the whole family as the children and grandchildren grew up. Janice loved the water and the big lake Gitche Gumee and passed that love on to her children.

In addition to her husband Paul, Janice is survived by her children, sons: Randy, James and Joey Morin; daughters: Kim (James) Fryar and Christine Morin; grandchildren, Stacie Morin of Yukon, Okla., Stanley (Leslie) Morin of Yukon, Ethan Fryar, USCG in Bahrain, Aren Fryar, USN in San Diego, and Emma Fryar, USN in San Diego; and great-grandchildren, Braxton, Marshall and Riley Morin.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Dahlgren; grandson, Steven Morin; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Morin.

Per Janice’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

With Janice’s love of animals in mind, memorial donations can be made to UPAWS: PO Box 968, Marquette, MI 49855, or online at upaws.org.

The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com.
