Krista Urbanc

NORWAY — Krista Marie Urbanc, 22, of Norway, joined the angels in heaven with her significant other Zach Johnson, on Jan. 9, 2018, in Marquette.

Krista was born on Sept. 27, 1995, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Mark and Lisa (Wilson) Urbanc. She was welcomed into their family as the third child.

She attended Norway-Vulcan Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 2014.

Krista was a talented artist; she had an artistic eye that transcended into her artwork. She was involved in cheerleading and volleyball.

Krista had a beautiful smile and was a lovely person inside and out. She made friends easily and was loved by everyone.

After graduating she went on to Bay College where she received her CNA certificate and continued her education at Northern Michigan University. She was currently pursuing her passion: veterinary science.

Krista was an animal lover and was in the habit of bringing animals home, most recently rescued a diabetic cat.

She enjoyed the great outdoors from snowboarding to sunbathing. She was drawn to Marquette for its hiking, camping and winter sports. Krista practiced yoga especially enjoying the times when she was able to do it with her sister, Melissa.

Krista is survived by her parents, Mark and Lisa Urbanc; her siblings, Scott (Emily Lucas) Urbanc of South Lyon, Mich., Melissa (Tim Krzych) Urbanc of Ashland, Wis.; her grandparents, Kathy and Gerry Wilson and Betty and Dennis Urbanc Sr.; aunts and uncles, Todd and Mary Urbanc, Mike and Belle Urbanc, Suzette and Dennis Urbanc Jr., Bob and Michelle Urbanc, Joe and Tiffany Urbanc and Stacy and Gerry Wilson II; and numerous cousins.

Family will greet friends Saturday, Jan. 13, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.

A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Andy Leaf, pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Iron Mountain, officiating.

The family requests memorial contributions may be made in Krista’s name to a scholarship fund that will be established in her memory.
