WILLIAM MICHAUD

IRON MOUNTAIN — William “Bill” Michaud, 97, of Kingsford, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

Bill was born on Dec. 24, 1920, in Gwinn. He was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Arsanault) Michaud and has been a lifelong resident of this area.

Bill married Eleanor Massa on Sept. 2, 1939. He served two years with the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Fireman First Class in January of 1946.

Together, Bill and Eleanor raised their family in Iron Mountain before moving to Kingsford, where Bill worked as an auto mechanic for 20 years before becoming a millwright for Carpenters Union Local 1510. He retired after 21 years with the union.

Bill was a member of Carpenters Union Local 1510 and the Carpenter-Clash American Legion Post 363 of Kingsford. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved time spent hunting and fishing. Bill was also an expert mechanic who could fix anything. He loved to tinker and always had projects to work on in his garage.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Beverly O’Dette of Kingsford, Dianne Cattelan of Iron Mountain and Barbara Lucas of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Coughlin, Danelle (Dan) Kelly, Shannon (Joe) Johnston, Kim (Jim) Gambrel, Jennifer (Nate) Dillon, Larry (Jean) O’Dette and Melissa (Tom) Eckhardt; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kendra, Karsen, Kiley, Lexi, Ryan, Megan, Kora, Julia, Ryan, Jaimee, Anthony and Dominic; one great-great-grandson, Trenton; two sisters, Alice Berg of Illinois and Doris Wagner of Adrian, Mich.; also by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Eleanor on Jan. 10, 2010; two sons, an infant son and his son, Ronnie; a grandson, Scott Curran; son-in-law, Jerry O’Dette; nine brothers and one sister

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 16 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy Ekaitis will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
