CRYSTAL FALLS — Darleen M. Farrell, 76, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at St. Lukes Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born on April 15, 1941 in Sagola, daughter of the late Perry and Katherine (Navickas) Jones. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a 1959 graduate of Channing High School. She married George Farrell on Jan. 23, 1960, in Sagola. Together they raised their family in Crystal Falls where Darleen worked for the Crystal Falls Hospital for many years, retiring in 2004. George preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2012.
In addition to her parents and husband, Darleen was preceded in death by her son, Rocky; a brother, DuWayne Jones; and a sister, Jeanette Jones.
She is survived by her sons, Todd (Joan) Farrell of Clovis, N.M., and Perry Farrell of Crystal Falls; sisters, Caroline Duncan of West Allis, Wis., Patsy Flatka of Iron Mountain and Geraldine Contois of Marquette; two granddaughters, India and Sierra Schindler; a great-granddaughter, Rylie Marie Schindler. Darleen is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including her niece Ann Marie Shandley; nephew, Don Richtarshick; and great-nieces, Caroline Brzoznowski and Abby Anderson.
Darleen was devoted to her family. She loved to celebrate and encourage her sons and other family members. She was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and most recently, great-grandmother. She touched the lives of so many — giving all that she had and never expecting anything in return — except from the slot machine.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Father Raymond Valerio will officiate.
