FELCH — Delano “Del” Solberg, 80, of Felch, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at his home.
Arnold Franklin Delano “Del” Solberg was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Felch, son of the late Charles and Irene (Willman) Solberg. Del graduated from Felch High School in 1956 and was a lifelong resident of the area. He married Patricia Youren on March 17, 1993 at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Patricia preceded him in death on April 24, 2007.
Del worked for many years as a cargo handler and dock worker in Iron Mountain and, in his younger days, as a logger in and around the Felch area. Most recently he was employed with Cheshire and Associates during the summer months doing landscaping and working in the nursery. He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Del was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling and gardening.
Del is survived by his sister, Jeanine Farb of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; three step-daughters, Diane (David) Gardipee of Aurora, Wis., Roxanne Cazzola of Loretto and Pamela (Michael) Steinbrecher of Felch; six nieces and nephews, David Farb, Paula Wainscott, William Farb, Larry Farb, Lori Pothast, and Scott Solberg; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Del was preceded in death by his brother, Charles J. Solberg; step-daughter, Susan Ottinger; and nephew, Ronald Farb.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3 at Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Lee Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery in the spring.
