Steven DeWayne Weinfurter
SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — Steven DeWayne Weinfurter, 49, of Sheboygan Falls, formerly of Iron Mountain, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wis., due to complications following surgery. He was born on Aug. 25, 1968, the beloved son of H. DeWayne and Pamela Weinfurter.
He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1986. While in high school he was on the track and tennis teams. He also enjoyed bowling, skiing, snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. At the age of 16 he took his mother to Pine Mountain to teach her to ski, then the two of them took ski trips to Powderhorn in Bessemer with his friend.
Steven furthered his education at Michigan Technological University, graduating in 1990 with a degree in mechanical engineering. While at Tech, he was in the ski club and went skiing in Colorado.
He started his career at Kohler Design in Kohler, Wis., before going to work at Mayline. He was currently an engineer at Mayline and had been working there for 15 years.
Steven was well liked by his coworkers, friends and neighbors. Even though he lived in Packer Country, he remained and avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.
As a young boy, his favorite activity was going to camp with his dad and grandpa, where they did a lot of fishing. Steven liked working with his hands, especially woodworking. He was known as a perfectionist. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in his yard. Steven was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
He married Elena Chavez on Oct. 29, 2011, at the Sheboygan Yacht Club. The couple enjoyed golfing and riding motorcycles together, traveling all over with their Harley Davidson group.
He is survived by his wife, Elena Weinfurter; his parents, Pam and DeWayne Weinfurter; three daughters Kristen Weinfurter, Paige Weinfurter and Amanda (Jon) Brault and their son Damien; one son, Joshua (Sarah) Hoheneder; one sister, Sheri (Paul) Simone; step-children, Katie (Reggie) Lee and Drew (Brooke) Brunner; his mother-in-law, Margarite Yurk; a special uncle, Keith Cerasoli; uncles, Wayne Cerasoli, Edwin (Donna) Weinfurter, Ronald (Joyce) Weinfurter, and Bernard Mainville; aunts, Nora, Liz and Shirley Weinfurter, and Joyce Quick; and many cousins.
Steven was a wonderful “Papa” to his grandchildren: his “little buddy” Dezmani, Zelena, Azailea and Zenya Lee, and Marijana and Mayleigh Brunner.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Ellen Cerasoli and Edward and Viola Weinfurter, his father-in-law, Fred Yurk, his aunt Dorothy Mainville, and his uncles Bob, Ted, and Vernon Weinfurter.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapel, 1201 N. Eighth Street, Sheboygan.
A celebration of Steven’s life will follow at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
His passing will leave a definite impact on all those who knew and loved him. His kindness, sense-of-humor and quick wit will be greatly missed.
