DINO H. (ENRICO) PIROLO

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. — Dino H. (Enrico) Pirolo, 86, died Aug. 19, 2018, of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis at home in Maple Grove, surrounded by his loving family.

Dino was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Caspian. He married his high school sweetheart, Eloise Joan Anderson of Stambaugh in 1953. That same year, he graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering. His 39-year career as a mining engineer and executive with Inland Steel included positions in Atikokan, Ontario; Ishpeming; Iron River; Crosby; Manistique; Virginia, Minn.; and East Chicago, Ind.

Dino and Joan retired to Prescott, Ariz., in 1993, where they made many new friends, and Dino enjoyed volunteer work with the U.S. Forest Service.

In 1998, he was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Mining Engineers by Michigan Tech. They returned to Minnesota in 2015 to be closer to family.

Dino loved his family, his Catholic faith, travel and the outdoors. He was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. An active man, his work ethic and zest for life were inspiring to all who encountered him.

Dino is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eloise Joan; children, Donald (Elizabeth) Pirolo, Linda (John) Ethier, Susan (Frank Herrera) Pirolo; grandchildren, Daniel (Amanda), Isaac and Andrew Pirolo, Michael (Heather) and Sarah Ethier; great-grandchildren, Adam Pirolo, and Benjamin and Eloise Ethier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silvio and Teresa (Zanconato) Pirolo; and brothers, Remo and Bruno.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 in the Silvercreek Chapel: 8200 Main St., Maple Grove, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and reception following.Memorials to donors choice of charity are preferred in lieu of flowers.
