Joanne Fay Stenfors
FOSTER CITY — Joanne Fay Stenfors, 83, of Foster City (Finntown), died Aug. 3, 2018, at the Dickinson County Hospital. She was born June 15, 1935 in Rockford, Ill., daughter of the late Clifford and Melba (Edberg) Anderson. Joanne was a lifelong resident of Foster City and graduated from Felch High School in 1955. She married Gilbert Stenfors on June 19, 1955 in Metropolitan. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1999.
Joanne was a member of the Mission Covenant Church, the Covenant Women’s Ministries, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was very active in her church and was always willing to help out where needed. Joanne enjoyed her Thursday luncheons with her friends at the Milltown Inn. She also loved spending time with family and friends.
Joanne is survived by three sons, Roger Stenfors of Felch, Tom (Tina) Stenfors of Foster City, and Neil (Suzette) Stenfors of Norway; six grandchildren, Philip (Julie) Stenfors, Alan (Molly) Stenfors, Rebecca “Becky” Brennan, Ian (Cortni) Gorges, Joseph Stenfors, and Megan Aleman; 11 great-grandchildren, Emily, Maya, Alex, Paige, Dravin, Adalee, Konnor, Cecelia, Corey, Andria and Evan; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Les Ossewaarde and Howard Carlson; and one sister-in-law, Judy Stenfors.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a special great-niece and caregiver, Kristin (Travis) Woodward and their six children. Joanne also considered her twin sister’s four boys an extension of her family as they all grew up together in Finntown.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marlene Ossewaarde and her twin sister, Joyce Dixon.
Visitation and viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Mission Covenant Church in Foster City. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Pastor Kyle Henderson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mission Covenant Church in her memory.
