Florence R. Hansen

KINGSFORD — Florence R. Hansen, 91, of Kingsford, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at the Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford. She was born on March 23, 1927, in Quinnesec, daughter of the late Amie and Mabel (Scott) LaPoint. Florence was a resident of this area her entire life and attended Quinnesec schools, graduating from Kingsford High School in 1945. She married Roy Hansen on Nov. 7, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Norway. Roy preceded her in death in 1997.

Florence was a member of First Baptist Church in Norway. She served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir for many years at Immanuel Baptist Church in Kingsford. Over the years she was active in Quinnesec community functions. She also served as a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. Florence loved to attend her children’s activities and sporting events. She also cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florence is survived by two sons, Douglas (Diane) Hansen; Cary (Candace) Hansen and their children, Wendy (Lee) Rohn, Jesse (Shannon) Hansen and Beth (Lance) Jenkins; two daughters, Janice (Joe) Stevens and their children, Zachary (Stephanie) Stevens, Ashley (Peter) Meglathery and Nathaniel (Dolly) Stevens; Patti Pugh and her son, William (Katie) Pugh; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Anna and Nathan Rohn, Grace, Seth and Olivia Hansen, Levi, Sophia, Samuel, Isaac and Clara Jenkins, Odin (Megan) Stevens and Damiana Stevens, Taylor Stevens, Phillip, Heidi and Cameron Meglathery; Jessica (Jacob) Christensen and Joshua Clow, Eli, Nora and Elliott Pugh; and one great-great-granddaughter, Thea Jo Christensen.

She is further survived by a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the First Baptist Church in Norway.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Cary Hansen will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living and Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community for their kindness and care over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
