KINGSFORD — Sammie M. Dinsmoore, 70, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Wayne, Mich., daughter of the late John and Eleanor (Corey) Dinsmoore. Sammie grew up in the Detroit area. She went on to serve in the US Army in 1970 until her honorable discharge in 1973. Sammie moved back to the Detroit area for a brief period before moving to Grand Marais, where she resided until moving to Kingsford in 2000.

She enjoyed cooking, time spent in the kitchen, animals of all kinds, her dogs, Cooper and Sadie, and especially the time spent with her friends.

Sammie was a member of the Uren Cooper Johnson American Legion Post 50, Iron Mountain.

She is survived by her long-time significant other of 28 years, Brenda Morrison; one step-daughter, Beth Morrison of Newberry; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Sandy) Osterhout of Newberry, Richard Osterhout of Curtis, and Ronnie (Ellie) Osterhout of Gould City, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Laura Bradley of Lake City, Mich.; many nieces and nephews; cousins, Patsy and Linda Corey of Grand Marais and Mike Corey of Fife Lake, Mich.; as well as her long-time friend, Susie Brown of Garden City; and special friend, Micci Anderson of Kingsford.

In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by one brother, “Johnny” Dinsmoore.

In accordance with Sammie’s wishes, private family services were held.
