Antique Tractor Club makes annual visit to VA Hospital

From Vance Jones, Northwoods Antique Tractor Club:

On July 12, the Northwoods Antique Tractor Club made our annual trip from the Aurora, Wis., Fire Hall to the VA Hospital in Iron Mountain to display our tractors and some antique equipment.

A great thank you to Kingsford Public Safety, the Iron Mountain Police Department and VA Police for the escort to and from the VA and to the general public for patience as our slow tractors travel the roads.

A large number of veterans came out to visit with us and view the tractors, some coming from the Jacobetti home in Marquette.

The VA staff was very gracious and accommodating.

Most of our club members are also vets and we appreciate the chance to serve in this way because of the freedoms that we have.

Enjoyed parade, fireworks for local Fourth of July

From Marie Osterberg, Aurora:

The Fourth of July parade was wonderful. The participants were fun to see and the interaction with the spectators was excellent.

Also, thank you for the spectacular fireworks, they were extra-beautiful this year. It was super that the weather the entire weekend was outstanding. Even the private fireworks going on around us were fun to watch.

Thank you to everyone involved to make this a wonderful July 4, 2016, from the gang watching on Millie Hill.

Bring back the popcorn at Out to Lunch program

Bouquet and barb

From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:

The Out to Lunch program on Thursdays across from the Dickinson County Library draws a good crowd and our grand marshal does a good job with the mic. But whatever happened to the popcorn and the 50-50 drawing? The smell of popcorn adds to the great atmosphere, along with the other vendors. Residents look forward to bringing their out-of-town guests to this musical event. Any chance of these two popular items returning? Hope so.

By the way, missed the horses in the Fourth of July parade.
