From Richard Anderson, secretary-treasurer, Branch 395 of The National Association of Letter Carriers, Iron Mountain:

We wish to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to those in the community who donated to our annual food drive May 12.

Your generosity provided 12,085 pounds of food to local food banks in Iron Mountain, Kingsford and Norway.

We also wish to thank all the volunteers, the U.S. Postal Service and major sponsors, whose help and cooperation made the drive a success.

A special thanks to Main Street and Subway for their kind contribution.

This year’s drive was the 26th anniversary of our nationwide food drive.

Donation for YMCA swim lessons appreciated

From Jonathan Ringel, director, Northern Lights YMCA:

Thank you so much to the 100-Plus Women Who Care for their support of the Northern Lights YMCA third-grade swim lessons. The realization that all children from age 4 to 9 will be able to learn to swim at the YMCA is truly life-changing. The YMCA does not take for granted the generosity of this community in helping us to fulfill our mission that everyone in our area are afforded opportunity. Our scholarship opportunities can allow a foster child to participate in summer day camp, a senior participating in therapeutic water aerobics or an adult working to combat health challenges. The YMCA could not do this without the generosity of this wonderful community.
