More support for BTS funding
Building on success, serving our community — this is what a quality school district provides when given the proper resources to do so.
On Tuesday, voters will have the opportunity to say yes to a sinking fund millage request of only .9 of a mill being requested by the Breitung Township School District.
That equates to only 90 cents per $1,000 of taxable value of a home.
Our school board is planning and preparing for the future needs of our students and facilities by asking for this millage. They recognize that keeping our facilities in top-notch shape by being able to repair and improve them when needed will save voters money.
Millages of this type are not allowed to pay salaries, benefits or routine maintenance. Sinking funds only allows this money to be used to pay for renovations, facility improvements such as added security, technology, and other capital improvements.
Well-kept, well-maintained and up-to-date facilities help provide the best opportunities for our kids.
It also shows that we have pride in our community. Let’s keep it up.
