What will be the cost to send immigrants back home?

I watched several Sunday morning news shows where the topic was Temporary Protective Status.

This is granted to people who are in danger in their own countries and have been admitted to the United States for protection from anything from natural disaster to a situation where their lives were in danger due to politics, their religion or various other reasons. Some have been in this country for more than 20 years and own businesses and are established in our society.

The numbers for these individuals is more than 400,000 and they have come from a good number of different countries, most that would require travel by either air or over water by ship. The president has decided to end their Protected Status and is going to require them to return to their country of origin, some almost immediately.

While I am sure an argument could easily be made against this decision, I am not going to do that. I am going to agree with the president and agree that they be returned to their origin countries. But I am also going to be phoning my two senators and my one Congressman and I am going to insist that they reveal the plan to remove them and the actual cost to the American taxpayers.

One country has more than 250,000 people in this country under protected status. Now if a jumbo jet can carry upwards of 200 people, that country’s people alone would require 1,250 flights. What is the cost of that — if that many airplanes can be located that are not being currently used in commercial or military aviation.

One country, Nicaragua, could be reached by highway though Mexico — that is, if Mexico would allow it. How many buses would that require? What would that cost be? Are there that many buses free of other uses that would be available?

My wife mentioned that these folks have Social Security accounts, property and businesses and fill jobs and places in our communities. Will we just steal this wealth and property or will they be compensated for their losses?

If the answer is to just seize their wealth and property, who will get the wealth and property? With unemployment in America at about 4 percent right now, who will fill the jobs they have, especially the jobs like “doctor” that require training?

I suggest you, too, call your senators and your Congressional representative and ask these questions. When they were elected, they said they — and they alone — were the very best choice for managing the affairs of our government and as our employees. They should certainly be cheerfully compliant with this little request.

Their numbers are all listed on the internet or available from your local library.

Thanks for your interest in this, as it seems we may be on the paying end once again and in a big way.

And that is without even considering the impact on our economy in general and putting aside human misery. You see some of those people will be returning to the same situation they left.
