Schools watch for the flu

IRON MOUNTAIN — Although the influenza season is not in full swing yet, area school nurses have seen a bout of the G.I. Bug.
The formal name for this illness is viral gastroenteritis. It hits hard and fast often with little warning.
Woodland Elementary School nurse Julie Cootware said the G.I. Bug, which is not caused by influenza, is going around.
“We have the G.I. Bug, a little bit of a respiratory bug — not a huge amount,” Cootware said.
