| | Brief rant about FacebookJune 12, 2009 - Nikki YounkSocial networking websites like Facebook and MySpace have really taken off over the past few years. Through these sites, we can all tap into our inner exhibitionist and publish photos, likes and dislikes, video, and basically any other inane bit of information about ourselves to the internet. Yes, I do it too. Of course, if it’s on the internet, virtually anyone can access the information. Yes, your boss, your grandparents, or even the police could potentially be checking your profile page. Some people have learned this fact the hard way. There have been many instances across the country in which police have arrested people based on Facebook pictures displaying illegal activity like vandalism or drug use. I find it interesting that we can be worried about keeping our private lives private or that the government is keeping too close of an eye on us. We’re the ones putting our whole lives on display already. Basically, we’ve become Big Brother. And to all you comment regulars (I'll not name names...) thanks for allowing me to exhibit my thoughts to you--yet again. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
