McGinn questions Packer injury reports
August 8, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Escanaba’s Bob McGinn, ace pro football scribe with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, can’t understand why the Green Bay Packers “aren't more forthcoming with injuries.”
“When they minimize the severity of almost every injury, it leads to fans questioning a player's fortitude for not being back sooner,” wrote McGinn in responding to a fan’s query on the newspaper’s Web site.
“It's just not fair to the player. These guys go through a heck of a lot during rehab from injuries. The least the team could do is be honest about their trials and tribulations so fans don't think they're slackers.”
McGinn, a member of the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame, indicated Packers head coach Mike McCarthy “never seems to tell the media what the doctors have told him.
“And he is becoming less forthcoming about injuries each and every year. Makes no sense to me.”
McGinn, author of the outstanding Ultimate Super Bowl Book, releases a revised hardcover edition later this month. He has added “three long, long new chapters” to the original.
McGinn held a book signing for the original Ultimate Super Bowl Book at the Hitch N Post in Aurora. The revised book will be available at book stores and online at mvpbooks.com.
