From TBS late night host Conan O’Brien: “Eight female badminton players were expelled from the Olympics for trying to lose on purpose. So tragically, they’ll never have another chance to play badminton unless they get invited to a picnic.” ...

CBS-TV, according to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, paid $394,000 for broadcast rights to the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome. For the current Olympic Games in London, NBC-TV paid $1.18 billion for broadcast rights.”

From Brad Dickson, Omaha World Herald: “Eight Olympic doubles badminton players were kicked out of the Games for trying to lose. The disqualified badminton players were just going through the motions and not trying to win. In the U.S., we call that “the Pro Bowl.”
