Back to school

September 2, 2012 - Blaine Hyska
It’s back to school time in the local area.

Let’s hope motorists remember to allow some extra time as students return to classes. The morning commute will be a little more congested when school begins.

Motorists who do not modify their schedules are likely to become a traffic hazard as they try to push their way through school traffic.

Allow extra time, and slow down.

Let’s also hope local road crews take note of the start of school. Road construction/repair projects in school neighborhoods should have been completed earlier this summer.

There’s no need to repaint roadway markings or perform some other minor street repair during the first week of school.

That’s only asking for trouble.

Those types of improvements can wait until motorists and students get back into their school routine, when they will be better able to make route adjustments.
