Fun Fall Weekend

October 1, 2012 - Theresa Proudfit
There is plenty of fun stuff happening this weekend in Dickinson County. I wish there were more hours in the day.

Juke Box Memories III the Classic Country Debut put on by St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford is presenting a brand new show being held Friday and Saturday Oct 5th and 6th at 7 p.m. and Sunday October 7th at 2 p.m.

The Kingsford Krush Roller Derby Girls are having a Scavenger Hunt Friday night, October 5th from 6-9 p.m. at the Goodwill Building in the Forward Financial building in Iron Mountain. It will be a scavenger hunt around town. The main jist of it will be 4 person teams one person must be able to drive they will give you a list of things to find/take a picture of and then you have an hour and a half to do as many of the things on the list as you can. $5 per person if you want to get a team together. There will be pizza and soda after around 7:30 at the Goodwill Building. The first 3 teams will receive prizes.

Harvest on Hughitt is Saturday October 6th from 8am to 6pm! The event will feature the farmers market, craft vendors, pumpkin/face painting, teddy bear parade, children’s games, inflatables and local service organizations. Bjorkman’s Horse Carriage Rides have been sponsored by the First National Bank & Trust Company. All activities will take place on Hughitt Street and in front of Joan Flood & Magee Johnson Downtown Park. Live music from the Richie Stakek and Bill Hassey Orchestra will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the newly completed community stage. Local food vendors Blackstone Pizza and Poor Boy Roys will be providing delicious food. Seasonal beers and pop will also be available so area residents are encouraged to come downtown for a festive daytime event.

The Iron Mountain Vs Kingsford Varsity Football Game will be held Saturday Afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Mountaineer Stadium. The Mountaineers lead the series 45-39 with 3 scoreless ties. As a 1991 graduate I'm generally a Mountaineer fan but with a cousin (Kevin LeClaire) and future nephew (Michael McCole) playing for the Flivvers this year it's a win either way for me! Good Luck to both teams!

Oh, it's also my birthday weekend so if you see me at any of these events don't be afraid to sing a song or shower me with gifts. Have a great weekend!
