Owning 7 bear dogs

June 29, 2009 - Lisa Reed
So everyone is probably wondering what it is like having seven bear hunting dogs and an indoor/outdoor cat. How do you afford to feed them? Where do you keep them? Why do you have so many? Well My husband, Pat, loves to bear hunt. He began bear hunting with his father at the age of 16. He has always had a lot of hunting dogs. I guess when you have a few, what is the difference if you have a few more? Three Christmas’s ago, one of his dad’s dogs had 13 puppies, on top of the six dogs he already had. Yes it can get expensive to feed all the dogs. Buying dog food in bulk and when it is on sale from a reputable dog food seller also helps. Our dogs each have their own dog house and area outside. Honestly cleaning up their areas is no fun. Talk about smelly. The names of our seven dogs are Slim, Lumpy, Macy, Legs, Midget, JZ and Penny. We also have a cat named Zo. The cat lives in the house, but goes outside whenever he wants. He always comes inside whether it be that night or for sure the next morning. Some of the dogs do not mind the cat, and some do. But there is one in particular if given the chance to chase the cat definitely would have no problem doing that. So in a nutshell that is what it’s like having so many dogs. Anyone else want to share their stories of having more than one dog or cat?
