Wow. What else is there to say about what the Chicago Bears continue to do on defense,? Other than I hope it lasts.
Five more defensive takeaways in a blowout against the Titans?
"The big plays, I have never been around anything like this, high school, college, any level," Brian Urlacher told The Chicago Tribune. "Every week it seems like someone else is doing it."
The Bears, with seven defensive touchdowns have scored more points on defense than the 1985 unit. They are one away from an NFL record.
The defense has 28 takeaways, leading to an NFL-best plus-16 turnover ratio.
As impressive as the 7-1 start is, the real tests await. Sunday night at home versus Houston. Then a Monday nighter in San Fran. And down the road, at home versus the Packers on Dec. 16.
The national media will probably hype Sunday night's matchup versus Houston as a potential Super Bowl preview.
I say hold your horses.
It’s been a terrific first half, but there is a ton of season left. After last year’s second-half collapse, it’s hard to get too excited just yet.
