The Copper Kings subbed frequently in this week’s Class C regional at Norway. “We have a big team. We feel all these players are great players,” Copper Kings coach Lisa Twardzik said. “In each practice, we get to go up against a very good team.” You don’t see that many teams keeping foes off balance with fake spikes at the net. Twardzik said that strategy needs plenty of work. “It takes a long time to reach a point where you can execute that,” she said. Another reason for Calumet’s success? “We practice hard,” one of the girls told me after the match. The Copper Kings defeated the young West Iron County Wykons — just one senior in standout hitter Emilie Christensen — in the regional final Thursday at Norway. | in: News, Blogs & Events Web Blog Photos![]() |
