Tough debut for Awrey's defense

November 13, 2012 - Burt Angeli
Marietta (Ohio) College wound up winless in the 2012 football season.

The Fighting Muskies, with Iron Mountain’s Randy Awrey in his first year as defensive coordinator, allowed 421 points in 10 games. Awrey left Northern Michigan University after the 2011 campaign.

"It was a puddle of adversity we had to go through all year," said Marietta head coach Jeff Filkovski. "The guys competed all year, and I'm proud of them for that."

Nick Awrey, Randy’s son, played in three games. The junior wide receiver rushed eight times for 14 yards, caught three passes for 14 yards and returned five kicks for 45 yards.
