| | Trojans to miss 'Miss Volleyball'November 14, 2012 - Burt AngeliIf the Forest Park Trojans had defeated Onaway in the Class D state quarterfinals, they would have met “Miss Volleyball” in the semifinals. Battle Creek St. Philip’s Amanda McKinzie, a 6-foot senior outside hitter headed to Virginia Tech, received the “Miss Volleyball” award from the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association. McKinzie, a two-time all-stater, is after a fourth state title. "I feel like I have a tremendous responsibility to the team,” she told the Detroit Free Press. "It obviously takes my coaches, but I have great teammates and without ... It takes all of them to win." McKinzie, in 594 games for St. Philip, shows 2,437 kills, 126 blocks and 352 aces.
