Buckle Down Boo!

July 21, 2009 - Theresa Proudfit
My instructions from the vet are "Keep her quiet"... for five months. No running, no jumping, no playing. In and out to go to the bathroom for the first two months and then short walks after that. Well we just finished week two and Boo is restless, uncomfortable and ready to get out.  How to I get my Boo to buckle down?
I borrowed a kennel from my friend Michelle, but Boo hasn't been kenneled since she was just over a year and she is against it.  It's just not gonna happen. Even if I could get her in the kennel the process of her getting in and out is ridiculous.  So instead I've tried to make my entire house like a kennel. Shutting all the doors, covering all the windows so she can't see the squirrels and birds outside and making her a bed on the floor so she doesn't jump on the furniture or on my bed. Seemed like a good plan to me until I was getting settled for bed and walked away for a minute. Boo decided she was sleeping with me.  Still don't know how she pulled it off but she jumped right up onto the bed. Since she got herself  up there I  let her stay the night.  I didn't sleep a wink. I was so worried she would try to jump back down I was tossing and turning as she slept like a baby.  Early that morning I had to pick her up, all 100 pounds of her, and set her back on the floor. Then we had a talk.  This morning when I woke up she was on the couch.  Now I have to start blocking the furniture.  Only 20 more weeks to go.
